ADCOCK JOINS SCOTT FOR BAHRAIN GT PORSCHE OUTING
Renault Clio championship frontrunner Nick Adcock is to tackle GT racing for the first time next month at the wheel of a Porsche GT3.
He is to join forces with his old Volkswagen Racing Cup rival Stuart Scott at the wheel of a Jordan Warnock-prepared car for the Bahrain GT Festival.
"It's a great opportunity and I'm really looking forward to it," said Adcock, who finished sixth in this year's ELF/BTE Lawline Renault Clio Cup with four podium finishes. "Stuart is an old friend and racing rival and when the chance came up to join him in Bahrain I leapt at it. I had planned to do the Bathurst 24-hour race but that was cancelled, so Bahrain is an excellent alternative."
Nick and Stuart will drive the Porsche GT3 in which Scott has been a regular frontrunner in the British GT Championship, with backing from Cambridge Business Travel, ART and Raw Media. Scott's regular driving partner, Steve Wood, is unable to make the journey through work commitments.
Said Stuart: "It's a shame Steve couldn't make it, but I know that Nick will be a really good team-mate - he's really pumped up about it. We're both really looking forward to Bahrain and taking part in the inaugural GT Festival there."
Herefordshire-based Adcock, 39, started his racing career in 2000 at the wheel of a Vento VR6 in the Volkswagen Racing Cup. He switched to Beetle power for 2001 and 2002, finishing sixth and fourth overall in the championship in respective seasons, with several outright and class victories. He switched to Clio racing in 2003.
