Croft test Wednesday 28th March 2007

The test at Croft was great, I'm really getting to grips with the car and the times are looking very promising. After four seasons on Clio Cup racing the Radical SR4 is very benign in comparison, handling wise but my goodness the grip it affords is truly astonishing. The acceleration is impressive enough but the true ability of the Radical can be found on the brakes and the huge corner speed. I was looking at the data, post test and saw that the car had been pulling 3g through the corners - no wonder my neck ached afterward!

Xero Competition have done a very good job with the car so far and the base set up they have provided me with has proved very effective. We spent a little bit of time adjusting tyre pressures and wing angles and the car ran well all day. The only concern is that the engine seems to be running very hot, something Dave Beecroft the team principal at Xero is tackling Radical about.

We have been further developing the livery and the car now sports flames on the front which looks good and we have one further tweak before it looks truly magnificent! We have the first official Radical test at Snetterton this coming Monday 2nd April and it will be interesting to see how we fare against the other runners. I'll update on the Silverstone race and Snetterton test very soon.
